Turning one is perhaps one of the most important milestones in a child’s life. They sit, they stand, they maybe even walk. Parents love to celebrate the occasion with a portrait session and some take the opportunity to have the entire family photographed together as well. A new rite of passage for babies turning 1 is the cake smash. The cake smash is always unpredictable and every child reacts differently. Some simply stare at the cake with a quizzical expression. Other babies, with some gentle coaxing, dive right in! Either way it’s an adorable way to commemorate their first birthday.
