I enjoy everything about portraiture, from getting to know the families, to photographing them, to editing each image. But the most rewarding part of the process is to see the finished artwork hanging on my client’s wall. I use special software to show my clients exactly what their images will look like on their wall. To do this, first I tape a standard size piece of paper on the wall or walls where they would like to hang their portraits. The paper is used to calibrate the software. I take a snapshot of your blank wall with my iPad and import it into my software. The software allows me to design both canvas and framed arrangements. My client decides which they would like and I begin designing different arrangements for them to choose from. It really helps take the guesswork out of deciding what sizes will fit your space.
This client wanted a canvas arrangement. I presented her with 6 options and she chose the one below. This arrangement consists of four 12×12″ canvases and one 20×24″ canvas. She was really happy with how it turned out and now every time she walks past that wall she is reminded of the good times they had that day. Although I am happy to sell my clients digital files, I prefer to sell them a tangible product. An heirloom they will have forever. Let’s face it, those who purchase digital files will most likely use those files for social media and those who don’t will stick the DVD in a drawer until they “get around to” printing them. If they do have them printed they may even use a budget printer like Costco or Shutterfly (heaven forbid!). We all lead very busy lives and hanging artwork is low on the list of priorities for most of us. That’s why, when you purchase your prints through me, you have the option to have your arrangement hung by me as well.
