This beautiful soon-to-be first-time Mom came to me because she wanted photos to celebrate her pregnancy. She is due in February and told me she was hoping to get some shots in the snow. I was so excited! It’s not often I get a client who is willing to brave the cold, much less one who is expecting! I love shooting outdoors whenever possible. And I will do it any time of year. There is a haunting beauty that comes with wintertime and I think she understood that. Not to mention that winter outwear is so stylish these days. You can have a lot of fun accessorizing.
I typically photograph pregnant women in their 7th month of pregnancy, when they have a nice round belly but aren’t feeling the discomfort that comes with the late stages of pregnancy. After she reserved her session we met for a wardrobe consultation and picked out outfits that fit her style and flattered her belly. We watched the weather reports closely during her 7th month. One day it snowed quite a bit but the light wasn’t right for a session so we agreed to meet the following morning. Reports said there was a slight chance of snow. We arrived at our location the following day, but no such luck. I was glad there was at least a coating on the ground from the previous day.
Then suddenly it happened! As we began shooting on the bridge a few flakes began to fall! We spent an hour together getting a range of beautiful maternity shots. Some in the snow and some in the beautiful morning sunlight.
The love this Mom has for her child is already apparent and I can’t wait to photograph her little one when she arrives next month!
