This session was a bit of a departure from most of my newborn sessions because it took place in the baby’s nursery. And what a gorgeous nursery it is! You could tell Mom and Dad put a lot of love and attention to detail into this room. So of course it made perfect sense to photograph their beautiful baby girl there. Shooting on location with a newborn requires a lot of preparation. Because I don’t have the luxury of accessing all my props I have to pick and choose the ones I think will work best in the space ahead of time and bring them with me. I begun the session by taking shots of mom, dad and baby together. Then I focused on capturing solo shots of baby. As with most newborn sessions we spend a good amount of time trying to get baby to sleep. This may mean taking a break for a feeding, diaper change or just some gentle rocking. The sleepier the baby, the easier she is to pose. In the end what was captured was a thing of beauty and I’m so proud. Happily, mom and dad decided to sign up for my Milestone Baby Plan, which includes a newborn, 3-month, 6-month and 1-year portrait session, so I get to photograph her 3 more times over the course of her first year! I am so looking forward to watching her grow.
